Know The Ropes!
with Ashley Thayer
Sunday, November 17, 2-4PM
Are you intimidated by those ropes hanging in the back of the classroom, or curious because they look like fun? Come learn the basics of the ropes: the
art of Yoga Kurunta, or puppetry, developed by BKS Iyengar.
Using the ropes in our yoga practice can help us explore asanas differently. We will play with movement and connection to understand our range of motion, learn how to leverage, work muscularly, gain extension through traction, and deepen flexion by using gravity in new ways. Build confidence in the ropes doing beginning level asanas, and learn to trust the ropes to support your weight.
ASHLEY THAYER completed the three year Teacher Training Program at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of Los Angeles in 2014 studying with Marla Apt, Paul Cabanis, and Lori McIntosh. She studied at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India and became an Iyengar Certified Teacher in 2015. She became certified by International Association of Yoga Therapists in 2017. She is curious and loves any study or practice that sheds light on the body, connection, and how we show up in the world.
