Bringing together yoga with the latest trauma research, this workshop will give you a greater understanding of toxic stress and trauma and how they affect the nervous system—body and mind.Understanding the practice of trauma-informed yoga is a valuable therapeutic tool in managing, if not resolving, its common symptoms, including anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, relationship stress and health problems.

A broad range of topics will be covered:

•Identifying types of trauma, including intergenerational and historical • Charting its long-term impact on the body and body memory • Achieving greater self-regulation through yoga, breathing techniques and mindfulness • The fundamentals of the trauma-informed practice, including insight in instruction and sequencing • Reaching out to your community and studio settings to bring trauma-informed yoga to those in need.

This workshop is offered to both yoga teachers and students.

HANNA GILAN has the experience, skill and knowledge that come from 20 years of yoga practice and 13 years teaching students of all ages and abilities. Hanna has trained, assisted and practiced with some of the world’s great Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga, and Bhakti teachers. She has completed four certified teacher trainings and three Thai Yoga Massage courses in Thailand. Hanna currently assists teacher training at Yoga House. A dedicated and joyful student of Ashtanga Yoga, Hanna practices the complete first and second series as taught by certified teachers of Pattabhi Jois.
